GOLDEN PAWS

Heath Guarantee Contract

Buyer's (New Owner) Responsibilities:

You must have your puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours after being picked up from seller (Breeder). Seller must be notified of the examination result within 7 days and buyer must send a copy of the examination by mail or email. Failure to do this will result in cancellation of this guarantee.

You must provide puppy with routine preventative care, such as, but not limited to: Vaccinations and deworming guidelines set by your veterinarian.

It is recommended that you keep your puppy on the same type of food that he/she has been eating at the time you pick your puppy up from seller. Failure to do this can result in diarrhea, loss of appetite, hypoglycemia attacks (low blood sugar), or a combination of these symptoms.

One Year Health Guarantee: This puppy is guaranteed until ONE year of age against fatal congenital disease which adversely affects the health of the puppy. This includes kidney, heart, and liver problems of a severe life threatening nature. If the puppy dies within one year, the buyer will pay to have it autopsied by a licensed veterinarian to diagnose the reason of death. If the reason is congenital, the seller will replace the puppy. All veterinarian findings must be submitted by a licensed veterinarian and sent on the veterinarian's letterhead. Puppies commonly have benign heart murmurs, which typically disappear by roughly 6 months of age. These puppy murmurs are typically no cause for concern and are not covered under this guarantee. All items covered under this guarantee are for replacement only - we do not give refunds. Seller will not be responsible for any medical expenses incurred. Buyer agrees that owning a puppy means trips to the vet and understands that he/she will be responsible for all expenses related to these trips to the vet.

Two Year Health Guarantee against Genetic Defects: If your puppy should develop any hereditary characteristics, such as crippling hip dysplasia before the age of 24 months that will affect the puppy's life or physical abilities, we will replace the puppy as soon as possible. (Replacement puppy may not be available until our next planned litter). If a problem should arise, we require that you take your puppy to a board certified veterinarian for a diagnosis. If it is found that the puppy does indeed have a life altering genetic disorder, a second opinion is required for the final diagnosis. The second opinion board certified veterinarian must be chosen by the breeder PRIOR to taking the puppy in for a second opinion.

As of date of pick up, the puppy has received proper vaccinations and dewormings. A detailed record of your puppy's health record (vaccinations and dewormings) is included in your puppy pack. Please take this with you to your first visit with your vet to make sure your vet does not give a vaccination that has already been given to your puppy.

No guarantee is given for any kind of worm, coccidia, or giardia (parasites). These parasites are too common to puppies and can be contracted from your soil or boarding facility. Your puppy has been dewormed frequently from two weeks of age until your possession. It is your responsibility to continue deworming your puppy and checking for parasites. Your puppy should be wormed every two weeks until it is placed on a monthly heartworm preventative (Required). Internal flea preventatives are not acceptable and will void your guarantee.

Vaccinations must be no less than three weeks apart and no more than four weeks apart for a series of at least three. Rabies vaccines should not be administered before sixteen weeks of age, if you allow your veterinarian to administer these vaccines too early, your guarantee is void. Also, if you chose to have your puppy given the vaccine with "Lepto" then this guarantee is void due to the fatal side effects. Proof of said maintenance must be furnished upon request of the breeder.

A puppy with a defect must be returned to the seller to qualify for a replacement puppy. NO REFUND, in part, or in full will be given. A returned puppy must be returned to the seller in good condition, other than the specified problem, and at the buyer's expense. The owner will then qualify for a replacement puppy. Buyer is responsible for all transportation cost to and from the seller on a replacement puppy. Seller will not pay or be responsible for any veterinarian bills. If you decide to keep and treat a puppy with a genetic defect or an ill puppy that is covered under this guarantee, seller will void all aspects of this contract.

The guarantee applies to the original puppy purchaser only and is non-transferrable to a second party. This puppy must not be resold to any owner, agent, or individual connected with a pet shop. No replacement puppy will be covered under this guarantee if the puppy has sired or whelped one or more puppies.

Replacement puppy will be of comparable quality. It is understood that the replacement puppy may not be from the same parents as the original puppy. There are certain disorders that may be caused by environmental factors, for example: allergies, thyroid dysfunction, demodectic mange (mites), and other autoimmune disorders that are not covered under this guarantee.

Although our puppies are bred to AKC standard, we cannot make any guarantees on show quality. Our main concern and objective are to raise beautiful, healthy, well socialized companions. There is no guarantee or warranty that the buyer will be able to show or breed the puppy regardless of breeding potentials. Retained testicles and hernias are not covered under this guarantee. We also cannot guarantee adult size, color, or temperament. While we do our best to give an accurate adult weight, there is absolutely no guarantee that the puppy will be the estimated size, as the breeder has no control over what the buyer feeds their puppy, nor the amount, therefore the size can't be guaranteed. We use our experience, the size of the parents, and a chart to give an estimated adult weight. Coats and colors may change.

The buyer understands that this puppy is being sold/guaranteed as a pet only. This puppy will not be bred. If the buyer should decide for any reason, at any time during the life of the dog, not to keep the dog, he or she is to notify the breeder who will have first option to re-purchase the dog at no more than the original purchase price. It is possible that the buyer may have to accept less than the original purchase price depending on age, training, and condition of the dog. If the breeder refuses first option, the breeder will gladly assist with rehoming the dog. If the dog is returned to the breeder then all cost to return the puppy/dog will be assumed by the owner.

The puppy must be kept in a weight appropriate for its size and age - avoiding obesity or malnourishment. If the dog us found to be obese or malnourished then the contract is null and void.

This contract is null and void if the terms and conditions are not fulfilled, including taking your new puppy to the vet within 72 hours and the vet examination must be on their letterhead with the date and signature of your vet and emailed to us within 7 days from date of examination.

Buyer agrees, he/she understands this contract fully, and that this contract is under jurisdiction of the State of North Carolina, in the County of Cleveland.
